Vivon 4.0 is a start-up that aims at applying its blockchain, called Ovochain, to the Food&Bev industry in order to trace all the chain, from harvest to the final product.

The mission is to create a community where responsible producers, that is to say, the agricultural companies of the best in the Italian heritage, and careful consumers aspiring to healthy and safe food, can meet. Thanks to the traceability assured by Ovochain and to the certification of an independent audit company, the Vivon 4.0 community becomes a true ecosystem made of solid values such as trust, reputation, opportunity, sustainability, inclusion, tradition, innovation, the ideal place where to find the Italian Food excellence.

Efficiency and safety in the agri-food industry

About 1.4 billion tons of food are wasted every year due to inefficiencies in the food supply chain (source: UN, 2021). Food fraud exceeds $50 billion annually (Food Safety Net Service, 2020). Everything can be adulterated from raw materials to final products.

The Blockchain allows the tracking of all the products along the supply chain through a transparent, decentralized, and immutable technology, as well as proves their sustainability. That means potential annual savings of $150 billion in food waste (source: UN, 2021), $31 billion in food fraud by 2024, and 30% cost savings (Juniper Research, 2019).

  • For the producers, Vivon 4.0 provides Ovochain, the blockchain aimed at increasing competitiveness, efficiency, innovative capability, and development opportunities thanks to Ovo-commerce, the global marketplace of Vivon 4.0 (1.6 bl tons of food lost per year in the world corresponding to about $1.2 trillion against which actions such as blockchain adoption could limit the loss to about $700 bl. – FAO, 2019)
  • For the consumers, Vivon provides a marketplace with certified, sustainable, safe products (about 600 ml people fall ill each year due to contaminated food with a $110 bl loss for health systems – WHO March 2022).

The origin of our name

At VIVON 4.0, taking into account the universal scope of the message we want to spread, we used Esperanto, the most widespread artificial language in the world, to name the key concepts defined within the project, starting with the name which means I LIVE

To identify the essence of VIVON 4.0 we chose the image of the egg, universally connected to the concept of life and birth. In Esperanto, the egg is called OVO, which however is also the English acronym for Own Verified Origin, meaning its verified origins.

Therefore, we invite manufacturers to share the verified origins of their products to operate in a global market, that’s the reason why SHARE YOUR OVO BE EVERYWHERE.

OVO is dyed in the color of knowledge, trust, and security and contains the reflection of the symbol of connectivity. This reflection, similar to a path, intends to highlight the double flow of communication that exists between the product and the consumer.

On the one hand, the former transmits all information relating to its existence from its core, on the other the aforementioned consumer seeks to acquire more information on that particular product before purchasing.
